Numerical Simulation Analysis on Surface Quality of Aluminum Foam Sandwich Panel in Plastic Forming

The surface quality of an aluminum foam sandwich panel (AFSP) is very important for its appearance and application. This paper mainly studies the AFSP after plastic forming. Combined with three-dimensional (3D) scanning technology, normal deviation between experimental target was obtained, parameters Sq, Sz dmax were calculated to evaluate quality. models cubic-spherical (CS) tetrakaidecahedral (TKD) as structures established respectively. A series numerical simulations multi-point forming (MPF) then carried out. Equivalent strain deformation characteristics spherical saddle-shaped discussed. main defects produced by in forming, such wrinkle, local straight face effect dimpling analyzed. Finally, MPF experiments out, it found that simulation results significantly corresponded terms degree distribution evaluation parameters. TKD model more consistent than CS model. Moreover, show can be improved thicker sheets smaller core cell sizes.
